10 Questions

The Sisterhood of World Bloggers Award is a series of questions provided by the person who nominated you. I was nominated by Monica of We Travel Together and below are the questions she asked.  The rules are to mention the blogger that nominated you, answer 10 questions of the bloggers choice, nominate 10 more female bloggers, and make up new questions for your nominees to answer.

1.) Who inspired you to travel?

When I was little, my mom would take me on her semi-annual trips with her co-workers. She bought me an atlas when I was 7 and it was my favorite book in the world. I memorized the countries, and most of the capitals, even if I was probably pronouncing it wrong. That’s how soon the travel bug hit me. More than two decades later, I’m obviously still happily infected.

2.) What is your biggest fear?

Despite my numerous adventures jumping off cliffs and waterfalls, and climbing mountains and volcanoes, I’m actually pretty scared of heights!

3.) What annoys you the most on a plane/at the airport?

I’m very impatient, which is not a great quality to have if especially if you backpack on a budget. But I do hate delayed flights. It’s also annoying when people take over the cabin above my seat.

4.) What is the most memorable moment you’ve had while traveling?

It was the very first time my husband (boyfriend at the time) traveled together. It was a vacation, actually, in Coron, Palawan, Philippines. One day, we went to this island and there was nobody there except the caretaker. It was just us, the white powdery sand, clear turquoise water where fish comes to you right by the shore, and a hammock under a tree. Maybe it was the location, maybe it was because I was with him, or maybe it was because we probably were on the verge of falling in love with each other right there and then. It was a lovely day.

5.) Would you rather vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why?

I’ve always been an island girl at heart so I’d say Hawaii. However, my husband and I had been considering moving to Alaska when we finally move back home. Why? Nurses make pretty good money there so it’ll be a great place to save up (to travel more later) and I’m pretty sure we won’t get bored exploring nature.

6.) Who would you want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

My husband, of course. He’s my best friend and my favorite travel buddy.

7.) Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without on travels?

Without trying the local food. That’s essential.

8.) What’s your favorite type of foreign food?

Sushi, tacos, and pizza. Although, I do like my pizza good ole’ New York style. Those are pretty much my top three favorite food.

9.) If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Highly infected with wanderlust. It’s quite contagious, I’ve been told.

10.) What’s on the top of your bucket list right now?

Scuba diving!! I cannot believe I’ve been living in the Philippines for years and still haven’t done this. Soon. Very soon.

My questions:

1.) What is the best memory you have  from your favorite city?

2.) What is the worst misadventure you’ve had during your travels?

3.) What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

4.) Have you ever attended a festival abroad? If no, what is a festival you’d like to attend?

5.) From where is the last stamp you have on your passport?

6.) Have you ever traveled alone, why or why not? If yes, where did you go the first time you did?

7.) Tell me about the craziest or most unforgettable night out during your travels.

8.) What do you carry with you in your purse/backpack for a day of exploring?

9.) Where did you go on your most recent road trip?

10.) What is one travel advice you’d like to give?

My nominees are:

Christa of Travel Fearlessly, Tiffany of A Girl and Her Passport, Nika of Next Stop Abroad, Baby of Jason Loves Baby, Mia of Worldsessed, Nancie of Aperture Of My Soul, Alex of Alex D. Neagoe, Yulee of Yulee Foster, Kah of Kah Wanders The World, and Emma of Paper Planes And Caramel Waffles.

  1. Oh my goodness, all these pictures make me so jealous! I want to travel so badly! When I was younger and single (before we had a kid) I was too afraid to travel because my Crohn’s Disease wasn’t under control. Now it is, but I’m all strapped down into everyday life! Someday, I WILL travel. And it will be amazing. This is so inspiring!

  2. Oh my goodness, all these pictures make me so jealous! I have always wanted to travel! But back when I was a little less attached (sans husband and child) I was too afraid to travel because I didn’t have my Crohn’s Disease under control. Now I do, and I’m too engulfed in everyday commitments! Someday, I WILL travel. Maybe we’ll all go, and it will be amazing. This was so inspiring, thanks for sharing.

    1. Hi Leah! I’m so sorry to hear about your Crohn’s disease. I’m glad you have it handled. And I’m happy to inspire. I’m sure you’ll find a way to make it work. Family trip is always a great idea 🙂

  3. Perfect post!!! 🙂 It seems like all those pictures were taken somewhere in paradise.
